Adam Greenfield (sadomasochist?) of v-2.org took it upon himself to attempt to redesign the US Form 1040 Tax Form. He links to both the original (PDF) and his own version (PDF) from his site, but I thought I'd put them here side-by side... with the new version on the right for those who don't recognize the original.

I was especially delighted by his choice to emphasize important fields such as total income and adjusted gross income. If you've gone through the trouble of doing your own taxes (on paper), then you know how many times you have to refer to these amounts when filling out other forms. The choice may seem obvious, but the official IRS version only distinguishes these fields with lower case bold text. [via Kottke]
Thanks for the kind comments!
If you think I was masochistic for taking this on, you should see my next project: redesigning the Seoul subway map. ; . )
