The Price of the New PSX

News.com reports:
"Sony will launch its PSX entertainment system, which combines a satellite TV tuner, a DVD recorder and a PlayStation 2 game player, in Japan later this year at a minimum price equivalent to $719."

This came as a bit of a disappointment to me... A TiVo runs roughly $300, add another $100 for a bigger hard drive, and then a PS2 for $200 (or less) and you're stiill only at $600. I don't think a satellite tuner with built-in TiVo is that much more either. Given that many potential customers already own one or more of the components the PSX is meant to replace, this is going to be a tough sell unless the price drops enough for people to consider moving their existing PS2s and DVRs to another room.

Well, the thing is.. its got a DVD BURNER.. that bumps it up quite a bit.. yet yea it's still expensive for a "gaming system", but it probably should be looked at more as a PC.
